And right now, Prime members can get their basics at a discount.
As of April 19, Amazon Prime members get 20% off their purchase when they spend $50 on select items(opens in a new tab). These items include everything from toilet paper to batteries and many various home goods in between. Just add the items you want to your cart and, when you reach the $50 threshold, the discount will be applied at checkout. Only items listed on the landing page will go toward getting 20% off.
Don't have an Amazon Prime account? No problem. Now's a great time to sign up. The subscription costs $14.99 per month and $139 per year. You can spend an additional $8.99 per month if you'd like to add on a Prime Video membership as well. Students and those who receive government assistance can pay as little as $7.49 monthly and $69 per year.
To sign up, head over to Amazon(opens in a new tab) and choose "start your free 30-day trial." Only those who have not had a free trial in the past will be eligible to try the service for free. Everyone else will simply need to sign up for Prime. If you have an Amazon account, sign in. If not, create an Amazon account with a valid email address and password. Choose a valid method of payment, confirm your personal information, and click "continue." You'll be signed up for Prime. If you were eligible for the free trial, be sure to cancel before the 30 days are up so you're not auto-charged the monthly fee.
