Becca Moore is for the girls.
On TikTok, @becccamooore(opens in a new tab) is best known for her amusing ratings (rating my creepy dms(opens in a new tab)), lists (things I've genuinely, genuinely posted on Instagram(opens in a new tab)), dating stories (that time a baseball player flew me out to meet him(opens in a new tab)), and that time an Uber driver saved her life and she went on to be good friends with his entire family(opens in a new tab).
Moore is part of a group of women online who have established a kind of brand of irreverent internet humor that taps into their own feminist perspectives to share their personal experiences with men on- and offline. She talks often about her experiences with toxic relationships, dating, and respect. In an interview with Mashable, Moore told me that she'd like to "help girls for the rest of my life."
"My life goal is to open up some kind of center for girls that have been in toxic or abusive relationships," Moore said. "And to educate girls on toxic relationships and the ways that men can abuse you in your relationships with them."
We sat down with Moore to chat about TikTok, life online, and, of course, stealing her sisters' identity.
Mashable: You started TikTok at the end of 2020. What was your social media presence like before then?
Becca Moore: Oh my God. I was an Instagram girl, or I wanted to be an Instagram girl. I was a bartender, and I was about to start a 9-to-5, so they told me I had to delete my social media. [They said] it was a bad look for the company because I was posting bikini pictures. I only had like 3,000 Instagram followers. Anyway, I ended up looking on LinkedIn, and I found [out] the guys that were working at the company were posting in bathing suits, which is when I became so anti-men and decided not to take my 9-to-5. I started bartending, and that's when I was like, "I have so much extra time, I might as well download TikTok."
Your brand became very clear, very quickly. You're here for the girls. Was that an intentional move or are you just a girl's girl through and through?
I've always been a girl's girl. I love being around girls. I've always gravitated towards them over men.
You tell so many stories online. Do you ever run out of ideas?
Not even kidding: I'm out stories. Like right now.
I use a lot of college stories because I was just the breeding ground for [stories]. A lot of crazy things happened because I was going out every day, and I was meeting people constantly. But honestly, as life goes on, crazier things keep happening. Like, I went on a first date last night that was — I cannot wait to make a video about it — a crazy date.
Are you on the apps?
I'm on Raya.
Is that how you met the date from last night?
I met him actually in Nashville, and he is really hot.
How analog.
He was here [in LA] for the week, so he remembered me from Nashville. And there was a paparazzi guy outside of Craig's(opens in a new tab) [so] I ended up saying — there's a headline out right now that says "Becca Morris says Leonardo DiCaprio should go to jail(opens in a new tab)." I didn't realize that that would make the cut or make a headline. And then I had to go on my date.
Do you feel like men know about you when you go on these dates because of your internet fame?
That guy did not. I think [men] just look at my Instagram. They don't look at my TikTok. They should. I do! I feel like I look them up on everything. I sat down and he was like, "what do you do?" And I was like, "freelance marketing."
When most people go on bad dates it feels like a waste of time. Does it feel that way to you, or no because even if it's a bad date, you get a good story for TikTok?
No, honestly. I shouldn't say this, but I've been on like five or six dates in the last three weeks, and I have so much material now. But I feel like people are gonna stop believing me. I think the reason that the stories come out crazy is because of my reaction to the things. I feel like I'm not living a crazier life than the average person. I think my interactions are funny.
So the guys you go out with aren't being more careful around you because they know you'll tell their story online?
It's honestly humbling. I always come into dates being like, "I have to be way toned down." I have to be like, "No, I love men!" You know what I mean? Then they have no idea. I've been on like a couple social media dates with other social media people, and that's the only time that they've actually known for real. So it's definitely humbling. But my demographic is girls, so that makes sense.
Humbling is an interesting take on it because I would assume, 'Oh, you are an idiot. You didn't even Google me once.'
It's so easy! It's like, "oh my God, you really forget that we had this date planned until like an hour ago, didn't you."
Do you organically date this much or are you doing it for work at this point?
I'm just bored. I might as well get a boyfriend. I don't know what else to do.
Do you script your videos?
No, I don't. I just plan it out in my head. But my makeup is all fake because I don't have a mirror right there. I like watching people do their makeup, so I like to do my makeup. But, no, they're not scripted.
One thing that I think is for the girls and not for the boys is recognizing influencers on the street. Does that ever happen to you? And how is the experience different if a girl approaches you versus if a guy does?
Well, if it's a guy they're gonna hit on me. So it's never funny. It's stupid. They're always like, "You're that one girl aren't you, you're the for the girls girl, aren't you?" And then they try to get my number or something. So I don't really like it when guys do it. If it's a girl, I love it. Oh my God, I love the girls that recognize me. They're so fun and nice. But yeah... Guys should not come up to me. You should not come up if you're a straight guy.
What has been one of your career highs so far on TikTok?
Helping the Torres family with the Uber situation when I got stranded at Coachella, and he literally saved me. Being able to raise that money for his family was definitely my lifetime high.

And you still hang out with him, right?
Yeah. I was with him last week. We went on race cars.
How long do you spend on TikTok as a viewer?
All day. In my head I'm like, "Maybe it's just for research. Maybe I'm trying to get new ideas." But no, it's not. What's your screen time? I have to ask you.
Nine hours, 53 minutes a day. What's yours?
Mine was 11 hours last week. I need to stop. I really do need to stop, but I work from home. I'm in my house all day. What am I supposed to do?
What are your favorite TikTok trends right now?
I'm on a weird side of TikTok [right now]. I'm on polygamy TikTok. Have you seen Sister Wives? I haven't even watched a show in years. But I know all the drama though.
I don't watch the trends. I don't dance. I just talk to the camera.
If you could change anything about TikTok, what would you change?
I would make it less addicting. I don't know! I love TikTok. I literally love it. It's so good, and I love how the algorithm works. I would probably restrict men from posting. I hate the alpha male trends.
Is there anything that you want to talk about online but can't or you don't know how to find a way in?
I was just thinking about that. I want to do more day-to-day [content], like what I'm actually doing during the day. I feel like people just wouldn't care.
I don't know. I think people love a vlog.
I want to because so many funny things happen throughout my day, and I have so many random story times. I wish I could vlog, but I'm just not brave enough. I think maybe I'll do that on YouTube. I wanna start a YouTube channel.
What was the first website that you were obsessed with? Like were you a Neopets kid?
Yeah. I was an everything kid.
I would get on my sister's AOL and pretend to be her and chat with people. I made a fake Facebook pretending to be her, too. And she was hot. She was like in high school, and I was nine.
How'd she like that?
She hated me. Well, she doesn't know about the Facebook thing. I never even told her about that. And then I got a boyfriend. Oh my God. And then I ended up dating a guy online, but we never met.
How did you break up with him?
I got banned from using the computer.
