The internet is already obsessed with Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), but now it's obsessing over the same thing Kendall is obsessing about on Succession: whether or not his dad really wanted him to take over Waystar Royco.
The piece of evidence at the centre of the debate? That rogue piece of paper left behind by Logan (Brian Cox), which contained the typed name of his son in the context of the person who might one day succeed him. The problem? At some later stage, the name had been either underlined or crossed out, and nobody can agree on which it was.
Like Kendall zooming in on the piece of paper later in the episode, Twitter has also been obsessing.
Many thought the name was, in fact, underlined.

Some, however, thought crossed out.

Others, meanwhile, accepted that it was ultimately all about the not knowing.

"What I love about the writing, it's just something that's left for the reader to interpret," says J. Smith-Cameron in HBO's "Inside the Episode" video(opens in a new tab). "So to Kendall it looks like definitely he meant for me to take over, someone else it looks like a grocery list that he's, like, half struck through."
Succession is now streaming on HBO Max(opens in a new tab), with new episodes airing at 9 p.m. ET Sundays on HBO and HBO Max.
