Harvard researchers have taken inspiration from jellyfish in order to create a robot that can pick up fragile and heavy things without the risk of damaging or dropping them. While gripping robots typically need feedback sensors and algorithms to avoid crushing objects, this new model uses curly balloon tentacles to safely envelop objects without any additional calculations.
